Sherif, have you changed your anti-virus setup at all? This can be caused
when the AV software scans the user's mailbox and delays access to the
information store. However, it usually goes away after the first time.

Just curious, why do your uses need to press the send/receive button? Are
your clients connected in MAPI (Exchange Server) mode, with mail delivery to
their mailbox?

Subject: [exchangelist] Outlook Clients with E2K login delay & freeze

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Dear All,

Anyone seen this before ?

Microsoft outlook clients when trying to connect to the Exchange corporate
server it freezes for a while ( about 10 to 20 seconds ) then it says server
is not available ( try again or work offline ) and when choosing try again
it connects to the server , and when first pressing the send/receive button
it freezes again for about the same period . and then it works all fine as
long as the outlook is still running .

Its the first time to see such problem on my server since 3 years ago..

Note: it happened after installing the last critical updates published by MS
last week, and tried to uninstall them , but still same problem...

Any Idea what causes this freezing and delay ??

Thanks in advance for your help...
Sherif
