Outlook 2000 RPC comms with Exchange 2000

Outlook 2000 Error message: the name could not be match to a name in the
address list
Solutions tried:
1) Tested RPC comms from client to exchange using rpings.exe from
exchange SP2 and worked fine.
2) reinstalled and did a clean install of outlook2000.
3) asigned the GC role to different DC's in domain. (have read that this
can be a major issue)
I probably have over looked somthing simple and would really appreciate
some help.
