When you are pinging from the outside dialing in do you get request
timed out or host not found? You see if you get host not found it's
definitely DNS problem if it is request timed out it most likely is a
connection problem some where, could be a firewall blocking it etc.

I can ping it from inside the LAN but when I go home or Dial up from a
remote location I can no longer ping it. I think this is why I cannot
connect to it either (Exchange).

What we are trying to determine here is, a network connection, or a DNS
problem.

If I ping my.domain.com I get request timed out. If I ping
mail.my.domain.com I get unknown host.

Does anyone know or maybe could step me in the right direction, why I am
not able to ping my server? I am setup with a public IP and my ISP
controls the DNS and MX records. Do I need to call them and ask them
why I can't ping or is it something in my setup?

Thank You,
Amy
