Additionally, it is possible to do what you say. However, the trick here is
to figure out how to get the users in the USA to the fastest link. In other
words, you don't want users in USA to access the OWA URL in India just to
get to a mailbox in the USA meaning that they would have to travel the
internet to India, get on your internal network, and travel back to the USA
if left as is.
Is that correct?
I think your best bet would be to have two URL's for simplicity. A FE
server is not required, but it would make security and URL abstraction a bit
easier.

Hmm.. should be possible. but it depends on you configuration. are the users
of the mailboxes in the same actice directory domain? remember to
authenticate as followed: "domainname\user" and the "password" of course :D

Hi Christian,
Both the servers in my US office are configured for webmail access as
you said. Internally i.e., with in the LAN people are able to access .
From Internet I've only one url setup to one server to access. I need the
people who are part of other server also should be able to access their
mailboxes thru the same url.
Is it possible ??

Hi...
Normally every Exchange 2000 server is able to serve HTTP requests. Just try
to enter <http://yourexchangeserver/exchange>
http://yourexchangeserver/exchange in your browser and you can see. The
problem is, that you should not publish this backend server with all your
mailbox data to the internet due to security reasons. Therefore I would
recommend to implement a reverse proxy in your dmz which will coordinate the
incoming request and send it to the internal backend server. Microsoft ISA
server will do fine here..

Hi,
I'm using exchange 2000 FE(OWA & SMTP) / BE(cluster) setup in my
Office in India. We have two offices in USA and there are two exchange
servers part of the same domain are installed there.
Is there anyway to configure owa on one of my servers in USA by which users
on both the servers in USA should be able to access their mails thru that
owa server without making one of them as front-end. By this they don't have
to come thru the server in India to access their mails which will be really
slow and I don't want to have two different owa servers in the USA.
This is an urgent requirement. Please help me.

that you sent. One more question that comes to mind is the placement of the
server since it is being accessed internally and externally. Should it be in
a DMZ or is it safe enough inside running https.

That said, here's a few things to consider:
Win95 can access OWA; more importantly, it's IE5.5 which works with OWA.
One server should be fine and it *could* be your Active Directory and
Exchange server. However, there are some risks that need to be understood
with that. Read the docs for more information.
HTTPS is a best practice. Better practice is to use ISA to secure it :)
I would use a public cert, but you could gen your own certs for HTTPS if you
wanted.

Hello,
I have been asked to setup an Exchange 2003 server for a company. They want
web access only, from inside (local lan) and outside (remote internet
users). Their infrastructure is NT4, Win2k and Novell with 60 clients most
of which are on windows 95 and old slow equipment. They are looking for the
web access so they can keep the old equipment in place while using IE to
access the mail. Can anyone give me an idea of what is involved in setting
this up? Some questions I have are as follows:
1. Can Win95 access W2k3 via owa internally as well as externally 2. Will IE
5.5 work on win95 clients connecting to W2k3 3. Do I need 2 servers, a front
end and back end 4. Will I need to install AD if it is not already installed
within the infrastructure.
5. Is it best practice to run HTTPS?
6. Do I need to run certificate services
