I couldnt agree with you more about exchange being feature rich. This is also one of the reasons we havent migrated ourselves. In this part of the world things like calendaring and business flow systems etc are not priority. Few companies are willing to i nvest in that. People are mostly interested in email & internet services which is where Linux becomes attractive. My relay server is actually a linux box. -----Original Message----- From: Mulnick, Al [mailto:Al.Mulnick@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2004 4:55 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: OT: RE: Migration from UNIX Sendmail to Ex chan ge 2003 http://www.MSExchange.org/ Fair enough. Like I said, I was just curious and it came across as an odd statement given the question. Several of the "Exchange Killer" apps are getting better and can have up front costs that are far lower. ROI and COO are not always equitable though. Functionality is not the same either if you consider what has to happen from a client perspective. Depends on how you use the product. For example, many still regard calendaring as a major productivity enhancement and in some of the opensource options that requires a lot more effort and less seamless interaction than you get with Exchange/Notes/GW. It's a big differentiator from a feature perspective. If it's just email you need, then the playing field is more about price and the advantages change quickly. Interesting though. :) -----Original Message----- From: Naboth Semwayo [mailto:naboths@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2004 2:11 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: OT: RE: Migration from UNIX Sendmail to Exchan ge 2003 http://www.MSExchange.org/ This was just an observation that I made. This is not a Linux vs Exchange issue and I do not wish top get into that. I happen to run Exchange myself on my server. Where I come form however because of the general high cost in MS products and licences (Excessively high actually). Most cooperates are moving to linux. -----Original Message----- From: Mulnick, Al [mailto:Al.Mulnick@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 08, 2004 9:34 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] OT: RE: Migration from UNIX Sendmail to Exchan ge 2003 http://www.MSExchange.org/ Not to be smart, but don't you think he'd ask that type of question on a Sendmail list vs. an Exchange list if that were the case? :) Just curious. -----Original Message----- From: Naboth Semwayo [mailto:naboths@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 08, 2004 9:24 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Migration from UNIX Sendmail to Exchange 2003 http://www.MSExchange.org/ Isnt that funny that you wanna do that when most people are migrating the other way (LINUX)?? I suppose servers are a matter of personal preference. -----Original Message----- From: James Collard [mailto:jcollard@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 08, 2004 4:16 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Migration from UNIX Sendmail to Exchange 2003 http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hi folks, does anyone have any experience migrating from UNIX sendmail to Exchange 2003.
