No access to contacts

Had this problem before where I copied my .pst to another system and
couldn't access the contacts, even though they appear. This is using my ISP
email so it's for a POP server instead of an Exchange server. For some
reason when I go to create a new message and select a contact I get the
following error:
"The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened."
A search on google advises I need to remove the old address list from the
address book. I see how to do this using the Exchange service but not POP.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
