Mark, there's a reason why the mailbox is locked during a mailbox move, it's called data integrity. Think about using mail forwarding to accommodate incoming mail during the move. It'll take a bit of creativity and good timing to pull off, but it should do the trick. For example: create a new mailbox on the 2003 server (I'll call it mailbox2003). Create a new mailbox on the Exchange 5.5 box (mailbox55). Using the delivery options for mailbox55, set mailbox2003 as the alternate recipient. Change the address of the mailbox that's being moved (to anything), and as soon as that takes effect, change the address of the mailbox55 to the original mailbox's address. At this point, any mail coming into mailbox55 will forward to mailbox2003. You can now move the mailbox in question without worrying about mail bouncing. Once the move is complete, you can merge any mail that came into mailbox2003 back into the primary mailbox and do the appropriate renaming of email addresses. There might be some brief periods while you're waiting for replication to occur where you'll get some mail bouncing, but it will be far less than you'd get if you move the mailbox without the above gyrations. Let us know how it pans out.
