Seize the roles?  Wait, didn't we already establish that this was not the only DC in the environment?

There's no reason to seize the roles, and chances are you're going to cause AD issues.  A role seizure should only be done if you are certain that the previous role holder will never be back on the network.  Doing a seizure without killing the previous DC could result in all sorts of problems, not the least of which is issues because of duplicate GUIDs when you create conflicting RID masters, problems with having 2 PDCEms on the net, and a whole slew of other stuff I can't think of right now.

The way I read this thread, there are other DCs in the environment.  If so, there is unlikely to be a need for role seizure unless you lost the role holder, and in a multi-DC environment hopefully you did not lose all the FSMOs.

I suggest you step back from the keyboard, reaccess where you are, and evaluate the recovery strategy befre doing anything.  Best case: document (even on a whiteboard would be fine) the list of steps for recovery, and why you need each step.  Send them out for review if you like, but until you have a clear step-by-step plan (and understand why you are doing each one) I would suggest you slow down, take a breath, and develop a plan.
