MOM 2005 will do just what you are asking for. In addition to its other
extensive Exchange monitoring, it picks up the performance data that
Outlook sends to Exchange. It can create alerts for errors and it also
logs the performance data for reporting.

I'm interested to hear opinions on the best monitoring solution
for Exchange. I've seen people talk MOM.

I'm wondering if there are solutions out there which actually
guage and monitor performance from the client side? I think it'd be
great for a tool to actually make mapi calls and for the data to be
aggregated and used to identify performance issues. That seems like a
more wholistic approach than gathering perfmon counters.

        Thanks! C.
