Right. If it was forwarded to you, you won't be able to see the headers
(original). You'll need the original message in the inbox. What you'll
likely see is the host that sent it to you and not much more than that
useful. The trail will go to the relay that sent it (presumably with a from
of user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) and you'll have to contact that admin to find
out where that message originated from if they keep that information.

Message tracking may not be much help.

Al

Well yes and no. Yes I see where the message came from but ... the "problem"
message was forwarded to me and I definitely don't see the originating
e-mail address. However I'm hoping that the NDR recipient will be able to
see originating e-mail address. If he can't I guess we'll need to set up
message tracking for messages sent to a specific user (e.g info@xxxxxxxx)
and I'm bound to be woolly over setting it up. If I have a problem though,
I'll come back to the forum.

thanks
Simon

When you do that, are you seeing any helpful information?

Ok - thanks for the swift reply Al but chat to me about message headers.
Either I am being completely stupid (probably) but can you advise where I
can look at the message headers. If you mean the From item in a received
mail, I can double click the user and it pops up a box showing me the
senders e-mail address. I am trying to trace where the original mail came
from.

Looking at the message headers? You can track a message based on sent to,
but to really see where it came from, you may want to start with the message
headers themselves.

I have a client e-mail account who receives copies of messages that are
NDR'd. However they appear to come "from" the Administrator and the user
wants to be able to trace who they actually came from. I'm sure there is a
simple answer to this so any help would be appreciated.

thanks
