Is any one familiar with this?

This seems to match the error message I'm getting...

I'm using an account which is a member of enterprise admin, domain admin, and administrators.
I did all my installation with this account.
This account has admin permission on Server1 on every container.
I'm looking everywhere but seems to be that I'm not finding anything...

What account are you using? Does the account have the proper permissions on both servers and systems?

Al,

I tried moving mailboxes from both ways.
They both gave me the same error.
I did test accessing both server's mailboxes from Outlook so the service are started and they both are accessible.
I did remount Server2 to make sure but unfortunately, the results were same.

Is it trying to access the target IS or the origination IS when it errors? I suspect it's the target from what you describe and if that's the case, I'm wondering if the store is started, accessible, mounted, etc. Can you check?

Al,

Thank you for your quick reply.
The reason I tried to change the port was that I was following the step "Configuring Connection Agreements to User the New Server". (on Exchange Server Deployment Tools)
It says "Under Exchange Server information, in Server, type the name of the new EX2k3. In Port, type 379, which is the port Site Replication service (SRS) uses. Unlike other Exchange 5.5 directory services, SRS is hardcoded to respond to LDAP requests only on port 379."

About the access to the Information Store.
I can access from Exchange System Manager, select an individual mailbox and run Exchange Task.
I can do that much with no error.
However when I run the move mailbox process, the error report says I cannot access the IS, which is making me confused.

Thanks!

confused slightly by what was done and why. Why did you want to change the ports on the second server for SRS? That wasn't needed from what you mentioned. Not being able to move the mailbox sounds like your ESM cannot access the store. Can you access the store? Is it mounted? Is it showing errors?

Hi all,

I have Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000 AD. The exchange server is also a Domain Controller (I will call this Server1).
Because of LDAP issue, I have already changed LDAP port of Server1 to 390 to avoid conflict with DC service.
Now, I have a new server which I want to join the same Window2k AD and install Exchange 2003 (Server2).
My goal was to join Server2 to the same site as Server1, migrate all mailboxes, then demote Server1 at the end.

I followed the steps on the Exchange Deployment Tools to do the installation.
Forestprep, Domainprep, Active Connector setup, and Exchange Server installation all went well on Server2. (So I believed)
Now at the end, I tried to change the connection agreement as suggested, put Server2 as the Exchange Server on Exchange Server Information and change the port number from 390 to 379 to accomodate SRS.
However, when I do this, I get "Unable to contact the Exchange server..." error.
If I change the server name to Server2 with the port unchanged (390), it will be successfully applied.
With this unsure step, I went forward to move the mailbox from Server1 to Server2.
I get an error report saying that "Information store could not be opened. The logon to the MS Exchange Server computer failed."
Obviously no mailbox was moved.
I do see both servers on Exchange System Manager on Server2 and on Exchange Administrator on Server1.
I can access the mailbox and other information as well.
So my guess is the above unsuccessful step to change the port number is the problem here.

I'm looking at KB and help files but haven't come across anything yet.
I really appreciate your help.
Thank you.
