Hi Hermano,

Lets say for argument sake you have both the old and new exchange boxes on the
same LAN. All you need to do is right click your users under AD click on
Exchange Tasks and then move their mail box to the new server.

If you have done 2 and 3 well once you turn off (of course uninstalling it from
AD so that Windows knows there is just one box now) you shouldn't have any
problems.

Thanks Andrew. Steps 2 and 3 I did it well and I'm just concerning about step 1
and are you talking about Exchange Server Migration? I've never use the tool
before so my question is: Will be something like a copy to or move to?

TIA

Hermano

Hi Hermano,

You didn't say which exchange you are talking about.

1 - simply move your mailboxes from server A to server B using the exchange
tools

2 - you need to connect the new server to domain like you do any workstation,
then run dpromo on it otherwise your none of your users in AD will be able to
use it.

3 - Just make sure you have a backup of everything before you attempt the move,
that way if something goes wrong you don't want be down for every long.

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hello Everyone,

We're replacing our Exchange Server Machine and I already installed and
updated everything and I thought was cool to see both machines integrated in
the Active Directory specially using the Exchange System Manager and see all
features together, off course some questions have been raising since then like:

1 - What is the easiest way to move the storage Information from one to
another ?

2 - On Routing Groups -> Members -- One is master ( Old one ) and the new
is just a member. So, is it just a promotion or something else needs to be done?

3 - Besides the DNS configuration with all pieces involved what else should
I need to be aware?

As you can see this is the first time that I've bee doing this and I don't
want to mess up with anything, specially because we have been blessed with all
settings and condition of all server nowadays.

Thanks so much for any advice or comments.

Hermano
