Hi Bruce, I have infact been doing this work for the past 3 years just without the MCSE credential. I have an opportunity to not only get the credentials now, free of cost, but also do it over a 6 months period and get paid along the way simply by attending the training program. I think it would be foolish of me not to attempt to do this whether I want to administer networks the rest of my life or not. I can appreciate your feeling on being on call all the time, I have been there many times before, but the money is very right for the time being (In Washington the average high tech worker gets $30,000 more than the country average, $10,000 more than high tech workers in California) and it is a great base for me to further professionally grow/develop. FastTrack sounds to fast to learn. Takes some time to learn Networking especially since it changes everyday. And when your done and get a job your on call half your life do you really want to do this. HVAC pays better. ________________________________ From: Devin McBride [mailto:devin@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, May 04, 2005 1:10 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Looking for a few individuals who would be willing to help me get grant money for an MCSE Certification program... http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hi All, I am currently applying for grant money to help pay for the MCSE Fast Track program here in Seattle, WA. I have been asked to do a phone interview with a few willing individuals who are not only *in the IT industry but also *in a position in hiring techs/administrators... I'm wondering if anyone is in this type of position and would be willing to do a quick phone interview..I understand there is nothing really in it for you, but it would greatly help me if 1-2 of your would be willing to do a 5-10 minute phone interview. It consists of basic job/hiring questions with respect to MCSE vs Non-Certified people and how it affects their chances to get a job. Please note, I am NOT asking for a job, nor asking for a job interview...this is simply for me to be able to document information concerning an in demand job and hopefully backup my case with the granting association... Please email me directly if anyone would be willing to help me with this.
