It is NOT supported to change the name of an Exchange server in ANY way.
If everything is working - don't change it. The server name is used in
lots of stuff behind the scenes.

Subject: [ExchangeList] Incorrect Naming of Server
We have an exchange 2003 server and when we were setting up 2003 the
server name was set up.
At the time we didn't realize that it was 1 char over the 15 char limit.
So, the network see's it as only 15 chars but exchange
see's the name as all 16 chars. I'm not sure what this will really do
to the exchange environment. So far we have been working
for quite some time like this.
The main question I have is;
Will exchange break if I try and rename the server the correct way and
only @ 15 chars. or do I need to back up all the stores and
re-install exchange and reset up everything?
Has anyone ran across this or had to do it?
thanks
Scott
