The pleasure was all mine.

Please let me know how every thing turns out when you have completed the
rebuild.

Yup, that sounds like a good plan. Thanks again.

Hi Bill,

You may be right, I am not sure what the Sid differences are between
2000 server and 2003 server in using the computer account reset option.
However, this would work if you:

1. Do a full backup first.

2. Do an in place upgrade to 2003 server.

Then follow the procedures outlined in the DOC.

Jose :-)

If you look above step 1 it states:

To move Exchange 2003 to a new computer and to keep the same server
name, the new computer must have the same operating system installed
that the original computer had. To move Exchange 2003 to the new
computer, follow these steps:

That's my problem. I need to get to Windows 2003 Server and away from
Windows 2000.

No it does not. Step 4 states to bring the new computer online,
Microsoft is referring to a new operating system.

Unfortunately, that method requires the operating system remain the
same. I'm beginning to think there isn't a "perfect" solution to this.

Thanks

Hi Bill,

How about using this procedure instead, "How to move Exchange 2003 to
new hardware and keep the same server name"?
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822945

The concept is the same if you plan on using the same hardware and just
changing the OS.

Hope this helps!

I am wanting to upgrade our Exchange 2003 server from Windows 2000
standard to Windows 2003 standard. I've had zero luck finding
documentation on doing this and I'm not willing to jump in without
knowing if there are potential problems. Has anyone here done this or
know where I can find relevant documentation?

Thanks
Bill
