Hi Kenny,

AFAIK, the IMAP4 service is not required on Exchange 2000. In fact, its
disabled by default in Exchange 2003. I like to use SSL/TLS secured
IMAP4 access sometimes when I don't have access to the full MAPI client.

For details on how to set up a secure IMAP4 site. Although the
screeshots use Exchange 2003/Windows 2003, the same procedures apply to
Exchange 2000. You can also use a front-end/back-end Exchange setup to
further enhance security.

Subject: [exchangelist] IMAP for Exchange

http://www.MSExchange.org/

We currently have IMAP running on our Exchange server.
I'm curious as to if I can shut it off without having problems. (Security reasons. If no one us using it.. no need for it to be running)
This struck me as odd because I thought Exchange had it own protocol, or

perhaps I am wrong?
We use OWA and Outlook (98 and XP) to access the Exchange server.
A google search of "Exchange 2000" and IMAP shows nothing of real value.
:-/

Thanks!

Regards,
 Kenny Man
