When two months back, we were restricting some users in my organization,
then I found this using Google. So I suddenly remembered this setting
and mailed it to you.

Thanks,

Manjeet

Hi Manjeet,

It works now. great! Also we have to set the CheckConnectorRestrictions
value to 1 if it is 0 again it wont check for the ristrictions.

Did microsoft forgot this to add or is this one more security benifits
from Microsoft :) . How do you know this??

regards

Praveen R

        Hi Praveen,

By default the SMTP virtual server Message Categorizer will not
check the delivery restrictions list unless specifically configured to
do in the exchange server registry.

On Each exchange server that host an SMTP bridgehead, you must
create a REG_DWARD registry value called CheckConnectorRestrictions in
the below key.

        HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Resvc\Parameters.

Once you have set this key, restart the SMTP and Exchange
routing engine for the change to take effect. Once this is done the
unauthorized users will get an NDR, when they send an internet message
through that connector.

        Thanks,

        Manjeet

Restart SMTP service. MS does not mention it, but it is
required.

For some reason the below said solution is not working
for me. I added my id to "reject from" but i can still send mails to
outside world. Is there anything else is missing??

                Regards

One way to do this is go to your SMTP connector which is sending
mail to
outside world (either using dns or host record).

Open it properties > and then move to delivery restriction tab.

Add the address (for which u want to put the restriction) in
reject
        message from.

Now the user would not be able to send mails to outside world.
And
internal mail flow will continue using other connector.

        Thanks,
        Manjeet
