You will probably have to go to the users account in and click on the
Member Of tab and remove the user from all the groups if the account is
just disabled.

Hey everyone, that worked for taking the person off the Global Address
List, but the person is still under the Employee group list.  Her
account also has been disabled, but she's still part of the Employee
group.
