Well, I wasn't going to do this, but I've enjoyed reading everyone
else's story, so figured I'd put in a brief synopsis.
,
My name is Lee Ann Swanson and I've been in IT exclusively for a little
over 5 years and love it. Live in South Dakota, USA. Previously I
worked in a hospital laboratory as a medical technologist, but if you
think the hours are long in IT :-) Did a lot w/ the LIS and when an
opportunity arose to do this full time I took it (you only live once
:-). Currently work for a consulting firm ... we're located in a rural
area, so our clients are small to medium size businesses. As a result,
we are jacks of all trades and masters of none.... my interests are
Windows Networks, DNS, Exchange, Cisco routers and firewalls and
whatever else strikes my fancy.
One interesting thing for me is the transition from a predominantly
female occupation (medical technologist) to a predominantly male
profession -- IT. It's been interesting and could be the subject of
another discussion :-)
Have enjoyed this List Serv extensively and learned a lot. Thanks for
all your help ... and the opportunity to share my story.
