RE: GFI Mailarchiver - is that the best way to go?

I've used EMC Xtender, which was a pretty neat application. You can
schedule archive tasks and does shortcutting as well. Once items are
archived, you have the option to shortcut messages where messages are
removed from your mailbox and replaced with a pointer in Outlook.
Therefore when a user wants to restore a message, all you need to do is
double click the message in Outlook and it will retrieve the message
from the storage and copy it back to your Exchange DB, rather than using
a search interface such as a browser to search for the message then
retrieve. All mail is stored in DB as a flat file which you can store on
a file server. Application also has the ability to search user's machine
for existing .psts to archive off to storage.

We have just implemented Zantaz's EAS product. We have it set to
archive individual mailboxes as well as archiving everything that comes
or goes through either of our mail servers. With the exception of the
Outlook addin not working nicely on one machine it's been a reasonably
good experience.

Dave,
We found GFI compliance/discovery orientated, where we needed a data
management product that would allow us to offer larger mailboxes, which
would be basis for getting rid of pst files. We chose Zantaz's EAS
product, which we will be implementing this month. So I'll have more
first hand knowledge in the next few months.

Hi Guys,
We are looking to implement a mail archiving solution. The whole idea is
to take away email management from users and hopefully get rid of PST
nightmares.
We currently have GFI Mailarchiver up and running in evaluation mode,
but somehow we found it did not quite fully our needs. The concept I
understand is that MailArc v3.0 takes a copy of mails sent or received
and stores in on an SQL server. Our problem is that users still have to
go in and tidy up /free up space on their mailbox. We were kinda hoping
that MailArc v3.0 would do that for you.
Anyone got alternative? I do know symantec do Enterprise Vault. anyone
used that yet? Is MS thinking of coming up with a solution for Archiving
mails besides PST?
