Thanks for the info Richard, out of interest roughly what percentage of spam do you reckon you caught using GFI? -----Original Message----- From: Richard Spencer [mailto:rspencer@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 08 December 2003 23:29 To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: GFI Mail Essentials http://www.MSExchange.org/ We used GFI for a while and had very few problems. We ran into an issue once with its ability to handle bounces it ended up logging an email over and over to tune of 260MB of log space. That was an isolated incident, though. There is still a good deal of overhead in that your admin needs to setup and configure the rules and upkeep them. It was easy to setup and use, just a little more time consuming that we wanted. I can highly recommend MessageLabs as an excellent SPAM and VIRUS catching service. It is a recurring monthly charge, but, in my opinion well worth it. I think only pay $100-$200 a month. Don't quote me on that though. We currently get about 70% spam mail (about 100-150k per month), we do a lot of work for banks so, everybody spams us. The service has reduced my overhead down to managing white/black lists and that's it. If you would like a contact over there, feel free to email me directly at rspencer@xxxxxxxxxxx Richard -----Original Message----- From: Graeme Robertson [mailto:gster@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, December 08, 2003 5:15 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] GFI Mail Essentials http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hello to one an all, I am a bit of a novice when it comes to exchange server 2000 and have recently started working at a small company where span is a big problem. I have been investigating anti spam software and GFI Mail essentials seems to be the best viable option as I am working for a small company with limited budget. All the reviews I have read have been very good, however I should very much like to hear the views of anyone who has used it (particularly in a small corporate environment) and would like to hear their opinions or any problems they may have found.
