It is "ok" because the emails are destined somewhere.

This can generate LOTS of garbage in the catchall mailbox tho. But yes,
it's a very common practice.

Thank you Michael, its working great,
Now that its working I want to ask about ppl who mistype an address they
don't get an NDR, is this ok? I think this is much better for the
exchange but am not sure if its a common practice and ok to do

That's the right ARGUMENT, but not where you change it.

In "catchall.cmd" are the lines:

cscript //nologo smtpreg.vbs /add 1 onarrival SMTPScriptingCatchAll
CDO.SS_SMTPOnArrivalSink "mail from=*"
cscript //nologo smtpreg.vbs /setprop 1 onarrival SMTPScriptingCatchAll
Sink ScriptName c:\ExchangeScripts\CatchEmail.vbs cscript //nologo
smtpreg.vbs /delprop 1 onarrival SMTPScriptingCatchAll Source Rule

You change the "1" here to be the ID of your SMTP virtual server. (You
can use enum.cmd to find out which is which.)

Thanks,
Michael
