Bruce,
This is another way off "linking" free space to the existing disk. This
basically creates a mount point in the existing drive that mounts the
free space available in another disk or the same disk as a Directory. I
am not sure how reliable this is, I have never used it. This process
just creates a link to another free space, but does not actually expand
the volume itself.

With dynamic disks there is a way to expand by installing another drive
and then there is someway to link it to a specific Folder/directory but
since I would never run dynamic disks I have forgotten the specifics but
it is possible. See if this link does not point you in the right

Yes, it was the system partition that I needed to expand.
I just checked Symantec's site and according to Document
ID:2004078260471462
Volume Manager 2.0 does not support dynamic disks.
So, likes like there is still no way to expand the system partition
(generally C) if it is on a dynamic disk.
