If you uncheck that box before it populates, the SMTP address never
shows up.

No, you likely don't because the best way to do that would be uncheck
that
box as you describe.  Any reason you don't do that on create vs.
waiting?

I'm curious though, is the target address you specify being overwritten
or
do you just want to remove the new address?

Is there any way to have a recipient policy not update an OU in AD? I
have
contacts that I give an outside SMTP mail address (some ListServe type
DSL).
These contacts always populate with my organization@.org, .com and .net
in
addition to the SMTP addie I give them. I have to wait for it to
populate,
then go in and take them out, and uncheck the "Automatically Update the
email addresses based on policy" box. This is somewhat painful. Anyone?
