If Bill wasn't here some one else would be. I will have to say though we have to blame ourselves for all the problems we have with using windows. After all we went down this software black hole willingly.
Remember when new computers would come with win95 installed no extra charge and you didn't get a copy. Microsoft knew it was going on. Like some one pushing drugs on the school playground first few hits are free. Then once your hooked they jack the price. I remember when Win2000 retail was $160.00 US now its $300.00US for a retail copy.
Linux is low priced because no single entity owns it. You can buy or get Linux free from several companies. I bought a book "Red Hat Linux 7.3 Secrets" and it came with a free copy of Linux. I also got a free copy when I bought Corel Word Perfect for Linux.

Okay well that was more than two cents but you can keep the change.

Hope you get your problems resolved.

Another 2 cents

Do you really think that Linux would remain so inexpensive if popularity of
the product grew to a Microsoft level? Yes Linux is a great operating system
and it is inexpensive. I believe it remains that way because only techies
like to use and configure it.

I disagree about the gainfully employed. If we could embrace the Linux world
and get companies to develop software for Linux, then companies (especially
public schools) could actually afford to have the proper amount of staff to
support the systems and network. Instead, we have to forks thousands of
dollars to M$ for licenses. Yes, Schools get a nice discount on MS products
however, Schools do not have to budget to run a network and staff the
department to keep it up.
I am the director, Network administrator, and systems guy for a public
school with 3500 students, 450 staff and faculty,1100 workstations. I have
only 2 techs that work for me and they only understand the workstation part.

SO, bottom line. Microsoft strings many of along for a ride and makes the
end users pay through the nose for it.

Sorry about my 2 cents worth.

I think that was a very unkind comment to be made about Bill. After all,
if it wasn't for Bill & Microsoft, where would you be living or what
sort of car would you be driving?
I think that we should all thank Microsoft for keeping us gainfully
employed (even though it is sending most of us prematurely grey!)

I agree with your comment Stephen.
"it would also be nice to know why Microsoft can't release a stable
operating
system or why ArcServe doesn't work properly "out of the box".

About Microsoft, I was just at their Knowledge website, and when I went
to
use the pull down menu to select a Product, it was blank, like Bill
Gates
mind is sometimes.

Denise, just looking at your logs it was obvious that some process was
slowing your data transfer rate (from 53 to 14 - that is a big drop!).
Whenever I see something like this on a Microsoft server, I know that we
are in for a big fall, so I reboot the server ASAP!
Yes it would be nice to know what causes these problems, but it would
also be nice to know why Microsoft can't release a stable operating
system or why ArcServe doesn't work properly "out of the box". Sometimes
it is just easier to "shoot the messenger!"
I have two SBS2000 sites where clients are claiming speed issues.
STORE.EXE is consuming in excess of 650Mb RAM - that is ridiculous, so
until I find a fix, these two servers get automatically rebooted (via
APC UPS) at 4am each morning.

Thanks Kim!! I'll look through the logs and try repackaging the job
itself.
I stopped and restarted the rpc service on the exchange server last
night
and the job ran ok. Don't know if it was that or the job just decided
to
run ok??
