Hi Juan

Just one comment. An Windows\Exchange 2003 cluster will be active\active by
default and I do not think that can be changed. To be honest why would you
not want to load balance given the amount of funds that will no doubt have
been invested in the hardware? It seems silly to have one server doing
nothing when it is capable of load balancing. That was one of the big
criticisms of Exchange 5.5 clustering as it was active\passive.

Regards,

Paul Lemonidis.

Hello,

You can't put your log files on a local disk. Both the databases and the
Log files have to be on shared storage.

Good morning to all,

I have a few questions about an Exchange 2003 Cluster. We are looking
into upgrading our current Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Right now we
only have one server, one site. For redundancy purposes we are
considering an Active/Passive cluster.

Could you please tell me a best practices for setting this up? How will
the fail over occur if the active node goes down?

I am planning to have the log files reside on the server itself and have
a Fiber Raid Array for the DBs. If the primary node fails how will the
stand by node handle the logs?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Juan
