I know how to create the server. My question is about having 2 IM servers on the same subnet at the same time. I would like to move my users over gradually from one server to the other, because the old one is getting 'blown out' and turned into an Exchange 2003 box. -----Original Message----- From: Mulnick, Al [mailto:Al.Mulnick@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wed 3/2/2005 5:10 PM To: [ExchangeList] Cc: Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Exchange 2000 Multiple Instant Messaging Serve rs http://www.MSExchange.org/ I should have looked before that last post ;) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q266643 Install Exchange 2000 from your Exchange 2000 CD. Make sure that you install the following components: * Exchange Server * Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Exchange System Manager snap-in * Instant Messaging Service -----Original Message----- From: Jason Lehrhoff [mailto:JLehrhoff@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 02, 2005 4:15 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Exchange 2000 Multiple Instant Messaging Servers http://www.MSExchange.org/ In preperation for my Exchange 2003 upgrade, I want to move the IM services to another box. So I installed Exchange 2000 on another server, but only the Instant Messaging/System Manager. (sp's... etc.) I created an IM server in the RVP protocol section of the System Admin, and then a SRV record for the new server. However, the old IM server is still active on the same network. Is this an issue? I can't connect to it, and worse, I can't connect back to the old server. I deleted the new IM server instance, and its SRV record as well. can more than one IM server host user accounts on the same network? how is it done?I didn't find anything specific this on MS or google. ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: al.mulnick@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSEXchange.org Discussion List as: JLehrhoff@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx The HealthCare Chaplaincy is a multifaith community of professionals from many cultures dedicated to caring for persons in spirit, mind, and body.
