Hi,

That would make sense up to a point but when I say connections I mean many
connections for instance I had more than 50 yesterday.

Likely they aren't dropping the connection and are reusing the same
connection to transmit many e-mails. Which is much more efficient than
opening a single connection per e-mail.

Subject: [ExchangeList] Excessivly long SMTP connections

Hello,

I have some excessively long SMTP connections occurring. These are coming
from my own gateway servers. Some of these are on the order of hours. Can
someone suggest what might be causing this type of behavior?

Thanks

Bill
