This is rpc call and NT returns an access denied. NT is returning this and are just passed on to the user.

Apply MTA hotfix build # 2655.51 on remote Exchange 5.5 SP4 Servers and it will resolve Event 9297 completely. This was due to possible bindback bugs fixed in post SP4 builds of the MTA.

Also check this KB article: Make sure you export registry before modifying it. It should be applicable to Exchange 2003 aswell.

Subject: [exchangelist] Event ID: 9297 - MTA error

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hi All,
we get the following in application log when trying to move bridgehead
connectors in the MTA ( between 5.5 connectors and 2003 connectors)

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeMTA
Event Category: Security
Event ID: 9297
Description:
The user
/o=ORGANIZATION/ou=ADMINISTRATIVE_GROUP/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER
has caused a security violation. Locality table (LTAB) index: 40. Windows 2000 error code: 0X80070005. [BASE IL MAIN BASE 1 237] (14)

I have a link that says about the same error and event iD ,but for users not able to send and receive emails between 5.5 and 2000/2003

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Raj
