I had a similar problem a while back but it was with all E-Mail not just attachments. When the client hit send receive Outlook would go out to lunch. I removed and recreated the profile in the outlook program on the clients computer and it was fine after that.

Yes, they do. I was rushing when I sent the first email, so let me be more
explicit now. What actually happens is when a message has an attachment,
they can't open it at all. Therefore, you don't even have a chance to save
the file anywhere. The hourglass sits on the screen forever and when you go
to task manager it says that it's not responding. Sorry if I misled anyone,
I was in a hurry.

So I take it that these users have Word and Excel on their system.

If they save the file within the email to their HD, can they open it then?

They're usually Word and Excel documents. It happens with internal and
internet mail.

What type of attachments are they?

Good Morning

I have a couple of users who cannot open email attachments. I searched MS
KB and found an article that suggested renaming some dat files. We've tried
that but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone
know of a solution for it?

TIA

Delores
