Personally, I think it depends on what you have. Last I checked, GW is
really just Sendmail with some additional features. The advantage is if you
use Novell already and have the infrastructure in place. The disadvantage
is that they recently purchased SUSE and I haven't personally heard what the
strategy is for integrating their mail product into the mix. Would be good
to do the due dilligence on that.

As for Qmail, it's pretty decent. Competes more with Sendmail than
Exchange. Not as many groupware features. So from my perspective, it's more
about what your requirements are vs. the application you choose. If you
don't need integrated AD functionality, or shared calendaring, then it may
work fine for what you want to do.

My opinion anyway.

Subject: [exchangelist] Dumb Question - GroupWise / Qmail

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Hi All

As you know, I am running Exchange 2003 (only 120day trial) but I am also
looking at other solutions. What does anybody think of GroupWise or a Linux
IMAP Qmail solution?

Does anyone synchronize their Active Directory/Global Address List with
their HR database? If so, what utility/tool/process do you use to
accomplish this?

Thanks.
