Yes, it is very possible that having the log files scanned would cause
this
to happen, I have seen it a couple of times.

Well I checked. They have not turned on auto-archiving. There are no
custom views.

I did find one this wrt the antivirus. The log files are on Drive E and
the Exchange data is on Drive D. Now the whole exchange directory on
Drive D was excluded but the log files on Drive E was not excluded. I
have now excluded the log files directory as well. Is it possible that
the scanning of the log files directory could have caused the calendar
items to disappear?

Thanx

Well, if they have archiving configured wrong then it could be removing
calendar information from the working calendar and moving it to the
archive
calendar, with regard to the views, if they have customized the view
they
could have the parameters set to only show calendar items that meet a
certain criteria.

I know that some users have been looking at turning on Archiving but
they are having problems with it. It does not seem to archive things in
their saved e-mails folder (only does the inbox). I have not been called
in to look at it yet.

As for custom views I am going to say that they do not have any. Could
be wrong but 99% sure.

How would these two things effect the calendar items?

Do any of the users have Archiving enabled?, any customized Views for
the
calendar?

Mark,

First thing I thought of as well. Symantec's NAV is NOT scanning the M:
Drive and also is NOT scanning the whole of the Exchange directory.

Yep, I've seen it and the cause was the Anti-virus software was
configured
to scan the M: and the directory that holds the Exchange DB's and Log
files.

Hi,

Has anybody seen the problem in Exchange 2000 SP3 & Post SP3 Rollup
(Outlook XP) where group calendar items disappear from some users but
not
all users. It is not the same users each time. It is random. The group
can
be 20 people or it can be 3. Usually it is not the sender of the
appointment but 1 or more of the recipients. This does not happen all
the
time. There is no trace of the deleted appointment.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Goran
