Bernard,
It will be better for you to put your question under a different topic. Do not EVER put a new question in reply to someone's reply to a different question. What kind of an IT guy are you? Don't make that mistake again!!!!

you could remove the dns entries and add host file entries on each server
for the other servers address to test

You may have some DNS issues, take a look at your smtpsvc logs and see if
you're getting any connect errors. I don't think the Exchange server in
question host record is supposed to be in both zones, it should prob only be
in it's respective zone and the child domain should be forwarding to the
root. From most of the posts I've read on this issue, it does seem to be a
DNS issue. Also run the winroute utility and see if it gives you any
information.

Subject: [exchangelist] DNS and Exchange question

http://www.MSExchange.org/

I have 3 exchange 2003 on windows 2003 all SP1 servers in 3 physical locations,

I've been having problems with mail queues saying "the remote server did not
respond to a connection attempt" for mail on my internal server queues,
which I have yet to solve.

My question is

MY company's AD DNS namespace is company.com. All my AD servers and 2 of the
3 Exchange servers live in the DNS zone company.com

The 3rd exchange server which is the routing group master lives in a sub
zone of company.com called corp. (exchange server.corp.compy.com)

There is a Host record for the Exchange server in question in each zone.
Does anyone see this a being a problem, or could this be why I'm getting the
errors on my mail queues?

Thanks,

Mike ------------------------------------------------------
