RE: Custom Recipients in Exchange 2003?

Ok, I think I get it now. I added a new OU to my AD called "External Contacts"
and have added "contacts" to that OU that have SMTP addresses. Is this the
right idea?

I guess I just have to change the way I think about things having only just
moved from 5.5...:)

What I'm trying to avoid is having a bunch of user accounts in my domain that
are able to be used. I'm still not all that familiar with AD either, so excuse
me while I struggle with the concept...:)

Can I add contacts to the AD without them being actuall "user" accounts?

Contacts is the new name. And what you were thinking is exactly how it works:
add a mail-enabled contact to the Active Directory.

Any particular reason you don't want to add them to the Active Directory? I
mean, that IS the directory for Exchange now.

I've been searching for an answer to this question all day, but to no avail...

In Exchange 5.5, I used to be able to add custom recipients to my GAL for
people with external addresses that I wanted globally available. Is there a
way to do the same in 2003? The only thing I can think of so far is to add the
username to my AD and give them an external SMTP address (which I'd rather not
do).

Can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks
