Port 25 shows smtp service is running, if yr
IP is xx.xx.xx.xx you should see something like
xx.xx.xx.xx:25 to show that it is listening on port 25 (smtp).

If you run c:\> telnet xx.xx.xx.xx 25
you should see a banner something like
220 smtp.domain.A Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 5.0.2195.5329 ready
 at Mon, 11 Nov 2002 20:53:55 +0800

This is a basic way of testing.

Without knowing yr exact setup I can't comment much.
