You have two choices in sending outgoing mail. A: Do a DNS lookup to
find the remote host which the address specifies and directly send mail
to that host, or B: use a smart host and send all outbound mail to this
host and let it determine how to get the mail to its final destination.
You usually use the latter method when you have a firewall and wish to
send all the mail to a specific host that has access to the internet,
and you don't want to expose your exchange server.

Can any one please explain what exactly does the "Use Domain Name System
(DNS)" on the connections tab for the IMS properties on EXChange 5.5
mean?

This is quite urgent so I'll appreciate your quick response.
