No, you don't need to change the LDAP port numbers, its only required if you
want 5.5 to run on a DC, as Exchange 5.5 has its own DS that uses port 389
this would conflict with the LDAP port on the DC.

Mark, thanks for the info. 
Once thing I'm not clear about in what you said:
running Exchagne 5.5 on domain controller. 

My Exchange 5.5 will only be connected via ADC, and
won't be run on a domain controller. It's already in
it's old domain and will remain there and just
connected via ADC. 

Do I still have to change the LDAP port? If so, can I
change it now and it will still continue to work fine
in the old domain? Or do I have to wait and change the
port until the last minute?
