Everything is on a different machine? I've lost track since I never really
knew where everything was to begin with. All I knew is you were going to
move Exchange 2003 "from one domain controller to another domain controller"
(your words).

Some experts have bad things to say about renaming the domain when Exchange
is in play. But Microsoft does support it so it must work some of the time
. Look here, especially the first two matches:

&q=exchange+domain+rename

Carl

My Exchange Server 2003 is on a different machine and Active Directory is on
a different machine.

If I upgrade my active directory to windows 2003, then I can rename the
domain name through netdom command.

But I just wanted to know its impact on Exchange Server 2003, because
Exchange depends on Active Directory.

1) No. Active Directory domain rename requires that all DC's are Windows
2003.

2) Not applicable, see answer to (1).

3) You shouldn't have Exchange installed on a DC. But yes, you can install
a second Exchange server and migrate users from one to the other. That's
regardless of whether either Exchange server is running on a DC.

You understand that the AD domain name does not affect your ability to
receive and send Email as any other domain name?

Subject: [ExchangeList] Changing Domain Controller Name
Importance: High

Hi,

My question is little bit more complex & needs experts advise.

Problem:-

We have Windows 2000 Server configured in Native Mode. The domain name that
we have does not include my company's name. (i.e it's pdc1.login.com)

We have Exchange Server 2003. Now the problem I want to create my domain
name as moduleone.com.

1) Is there any Utility or command through which I can change the
domain name.

2) What would be the effect on Exchange Server 2003 if domain name is
changed

3) Can I migrate the Exchange 2003 from One Domain Controller to
another domain controller. i.e on another server to configured as exchange.

Please Help me in this matter.
