The email address is controlled by the default recipient policy.

I wonder if this is not more specifically an AD question but, when
adding a new user, the default logon/email address is "JohnDoe" for
"John Doe". Instead, I'd like the default to be set to "Jdoe" without
having to retype. How is this achieved?
