Change Default Public Store

Hello all,
I am moving my Exchange 2000 server to a new box. I have been following the
popular "Ed Crowley Move Server Method" and mostly has gone pretty good.
I am at the point where I need to change the default public store via general
tab of the mailbox store. This option is greyed out to me and I cannot change
it.
Do I need to dismount the store? I have never done so and am wary of unkown
implications.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
