Cannot access OWA from internet

I am running exchange server 5.5 with sp 4. I have setup OWA which is
working fine when I connect from the LAN the intranet. However when i am
outside and i use the public ip address I can access OWA.
We have one public ip address which is used for internet sharing. Thae mail
server in running on Win nt 4.0.
