Mark,
I have had Norton Corp. 7.5 installed for a year and a half on my W2k -
Exchange 2000 server, with everything being scanned. About 6 weeks ago or so
(right around the "major security patch" from Microsoft came out) my server
started overflowing with the log files and recently I have had the calendaring
issue. I followed your advice when the log file issue came up and excluded from
my scans all of the appropriate drives, folders, files and extensions. At that
time I contacted Symantec and was told that I didn't have the "right" version
of their product, and suggested I purchase the "Exchange" product. As a newly
trained Sys Admin I have been taught to look for "what's changed" when I
troubleshoot. Exchange is all over the documentation for my Anti-Virus and the
combination of W2k/Ex2K and Norton Corp. 7.5 worked fine for over a year. My
question to the group and you is "what's changed"? I hate to be paranoid or too
much of a conspiracy believer, but I smell a corporate rat, that's trying to
gouge me/us!!!! Opinions are appreciated.

Sincerely,

Tom Hollembaek

Performing a file-level scan of your Exchange data is something you do not
want to do, the API's used by the AV software will mess with the data in the
DB's, and calendar entry loss is just one of the effects, here is a link I
would recommend you read:

Umm, this sounds like someone has an antivirus package on their Exchange
server that is configured to do a file-level scan of the MDBDATA directory
and/or the M:

their appointments on their calendar, the next day or a couple days later
