But that's based on having the store on the same drive as the root of the OS 
which is way bad practice surely??

No, because I miss read the original email and assumed he was using NTBackup J

Sorry, but I don't understand to you. I backup the System State and the 
Information Store at the same job but I don't backup at the same time (first 
System State, after Information Store). Do you say that I backup at separate 
jobs?

Are you trying to backup the System State and the Information Store at the same 
time?

 

You cannot backup the System State at the same time you are backing up the 
Information Store.

                    I try to do a full backup of my Exchange server but when I 
want to restore I have a lot of problems with IIS. I have using Veritas and I 
do not know if I need to buy some agent for IIS. Can you help me?
