Hmmmm..... Sounds suspiciously like PEBKAC (on the user's part).

Nah, not really because after I did the restore from my brick backup,
all the email visibly populated in the Inbox :-( But a good thought
though! :-)

Could it be something as simple as a view set on the user's inbox?

No, it happened to a live user's Inbox, not a deleted user. Strangely
enough, it only affected messages that existed at the root of the Inbox,
not any of the messages in any of the manually created folders in
Outlook. The only reason I thought it might be related to the backup is
because as soon as the Incremental backup was done, the user I was
referring to popped her head in my office to say all of her email
"disappeared". It just seemed like too much of a coincidence. PLUS, I
don't have any mailbox manager rules set up on the server to clear
anything out.
Well, thanks for your thoughts anyway! :-)

It doesn't matter what I was speaking of. It matters what the OP was
talking about. He said "user's inbox" and I was addressing that
without any special interpretation.

Hello Carl,
are you speaking about a mailbox that you deleted but which stay on
exchange until it's backed up ?
I think exchange will purge it!

So unless there is some other problem going on, there should be a
0.00000% chance of "users inbox being wiped out" due to running a
backup.

Hey Guys!
Let's say you do Incremental backups at few points during the day of the
Exchange database. Now we know that the Incremental backups commit and
flush the log files. Is there a possibility of a users inbox being
wiped out as a result of that backup being done?? Any input here is
appreciated!! :-) Thanks!!
Rich
