Backin' Up Exchange Server PC

We tried to clone the Hardisk of the MAILER PC running Windows NT with
MSExchange Server 5.5 using Norton Ghost 2003. We also used different size
of hard disk than the MASTER so everytime we booted from the Clone the
Directory Service couldnt run and so. We are trying to find a solution for
Backin up the hardisk or even correct this problem with the service. Can
we upgrade to Win2000 Server, will the problem be solved? Can anyone
suggest something?
