This is what I use as a logon script. Works only for Outlook 2003 (11.0).
It will configure outlook profile for the first time only, according to info
found in your .prf file.

CheckReg.vbs
----------------------------
bWaitOnReturn = True
dim bExists
ssig="Unable to open registry key"

set wshShell= Wscript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") 'CHECK REGISTRY KEY FOR
EXISTENCE OF APP
strKey = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Setup\"
on error resume next
present = WshShell.RegRead(strKey)
if err.number<>0 then
    if right(strKey,1)="\" then 'strKey is a registry key
        if instr(1,err.description,ssig,1)<>0 then
            bExists=true
        else
            bExists=false
        end if
    else 'strKey is a registry valuename
        bExists=false
    end if
    err.clear
else
    bExists=true
end if
on error goto 0
if bExists=vbFalse then 'INSTALL APP IF RESULT OF REGISTRY CHECK IS FALSE
    wshshell.Run "regedit /s \\share_path\ModReg.reg",0,bWaitOnReturn   'EDIT
INSTALL PACKAGE LOCATION ACCORDINGLY
    wshshell.SendKeys " "
end if
--------------------------------

ModReg.reg
--------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Setup]

"ImportPRF"="\\\\share_path\\outlook.prf"
-------------------------------

Outlook.prf is you "custom outlook profile" file made by Custom Installation
Wizard from Office 2003 Resource Kit.

        http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hi,

        You can run a exicutable file which will create the mail profile for
the user.
        you can try using Mapigen.exe ( free download from
http://www.xirvsoftware.com/corporate.html )

        That you can run using Group policy ( logon script) with the
appropriate switch.

        Mapigen.exe profilename %Username% Domainname

        This will automatically configure your outlook client.

        Regards
        UdayAdmin

                Take a look at the Office Resource Kit and "prfgen".

                Personally, I think a tool like "richprofile" is much easier
(free, google for it).

                Hello !

                I have inherited an Exchange 2003 server, with the former admin
leaving
                and almost no docs to be found ...
                Anyway, this is probably a very basic question, but I do not
seem to be
                able to find the right answer: is it possible to configure a
new user in
                Exchange 2003 so that when the user open his or her Outlook
client,
                everything is already preconfigured ? Is this possible at all ?
                Many thanks in advance for your help, I´ll get some more books
as well...

                GP
