we´ve set up a new DC and replicated it with the new one (ok,the other
way round) and everything looks fine (can access the active directory
from both DCs,the new and the old one)
actually, our "last" DC (this one, whicht didnt get the headcrash today)
had the global catalog,aight?

The global catalog server is the only machine that holds all the
information
about your active directory domain.
To set up a new DC and replicate the information, please note that you
will
need atleast one global catalog server on the domain, since that is the
only
machine that holds information about your domain.
Restore the crashed server from tape backups.. if you have any.

Hi all!
tody early in the morning one of our domain controllers had a headcrash
:-(
our second admin said that the "gobal cataloug server" was on it
1. what is a global cataloug server?
2. can we just set up a new DC, and replicate it with the left one? (we
had 2) the outer admin said that he think that die GCS is only on ONE DC
in a domain.,..
