There is a new effort to bring the WikiMarkupStandard discussion
forward again (no, it hasn't really been standardized yet):

The mailing list will host a bit lame discussion I fear, because
every single markup snippet must be voted on, and there will be
lengthy debates over almost everything.  Not sure, if it has an
outcome at all.

No need to subscribe for ewiki users, this is an informational note.

__If__ it gets finished, we're going to adopt it. Despite that this
surely is a one-year-from-now event, we'll make ewiki fully backwards
compatible to our current markup.  I expect that the WMS will be very
similar to what we already use anyhow. Don't worry.
