Even better than this editorial is the emotional piece written by Yossi Sarid
in Thursday's HaAretz (Hebrew edition) - "BeShivhei HaShvita" (In Praise of the
Strike). It is a very moving tribute to teachers. Especially the last few
paragraphs.

Subject: [etni] there is no reason for disappointment ?
Parts of the editorial in Haaretz on Thursday sum up the strike and its results
for me.
...The education system cannot be made better by one strike, so there is no
reason for disappointment at its results. It is impossible to continue the
strike until satisfactory results are achieved. Two months is an eternity in
terms of the school year, and the disruption will result in a disorganized,
high-pressure school year. On the other hand, apparently there is no other way
to raise awareness of the need for change.
...
The Education Ministry will find it difficult to continue with its familiar
routine of imposing changes without first consulting and considering teachers.
The strike exposed a clear voice on the part of the teachers, and even if it is
not focused it is still distinct from that of the ministry or even of the
principals. This voice should be heard again. It will be impossible to ignore
thousands of teachers who demonstrated and explained and wrote letters, and it
will be nigh impossible to close a deal with Ran Erez, or his successor,
without including them in the decisions. We must believe this, at least, in
light of the length of the strike and the meager results obtained.

BTW - believe it or not - there are updates regarding Friday's post-strike
activity at the tent in Jerusalem at 13.00 .
