I would like official clarification as to how the tester works with the
dictionary during the 1 hour shortened oral Bagrut for 4 and 5 pointers.
In the guidelines received by the school for the winter test, it said the
tester reads the various definitions aloud to the examinee. Does he read both
the English and Hebrew (Arabic)? Does he read all the examples in the entry,
too? If it's a phrasal verb, for example, does the tester automatically turn to
the proper dictionary entry or does the pupil have to direct the teacher to it.?
If a pupil doesn't understand a word that is part of an expression, is he/she
the one that tells the teacher where to look for the word?
I've no experience doing this and want to do it correctly and fairly. Looking
at the above, it seems to me that the dictionary work is very tedious here and
might easily "eat up" a large chunk of the time.
As our first "matkonet" is coming up, I'd appreciate an answer promptly. Thanks
for your help!
Laurie
